Skipjacks are/were working boats on the Chesapeake Bay, Maryland USA These small boats (a 60 footer would be a large one) were normally maned by a crew of three to five family members. In their day they harvested oysters for the markets of Annapolis and Baltimore Maryland. During WWII, some were drafted to patrol the Chesapeake Bay for German activity. |
